Looking Down the Exam Lane Twenty feet separate the exam chair from the end of the room. This allows better observation of eye movement problems which may only be noticeable at a distance. In addition to the traditional projector chart, we have videos, stuffed animals - even a singing fish to attract children's attention. An exam may consist of as many as 14 individual components, including visual acuity, confrontation fields, eye movements, ocular adnexa/orbit, pupils, slit lamp (conjunctiva, cornea, anterior chamber, lens), intraocular pressure, optic nerve, retina, and two psychiatric components (orientation, mood and affect). |
