Waiting for Drops to Take Effect

   It takes 20 to 30 minutes for the cycloplegic drops to adequately dilate the pupil and immobilize the ciliary body to allow accurate refractive retinoscopy. Children can play while they wait - or read a book, though their near vision may become quite blurred as the drops start to work.
